- ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆Having been to various con clubs in my time in and around Torquay, I got invited to one that Id actually never been to this last week for a get together for a clients 50th birthday and boy was I surprised. Having known this client for many many years Ive always known her to be a good judge of places so knowing that she was holding a get together here should have meant it was mind blowing but how wrong was I? The entertainment was exemplary (which wasnt booked by the club), and the bar manager was very nice indeed but who the hell was responsible for the food as it wasnt my client. She paid a massive amount (well over £500) for food and ended up with about £20 worth (even I could have done better and I have no idea how to cook). I even felt like popping out to a local takeaway myself to bring in some food. Plates - thats another thing - who on earth uses saucers for a finger buffet?? Again, nice club, nice staff, bad food.
